Traveling has been undeniably easy in the past years, and with the advent of lots of wallet friendly transportation options today, finding the right one won’t be a problem.

BoltBus is a bus line that operates in different locations around the United States, providing express service from Washington D.C. to New York. This is one of the easiest and most convenient forms of travel that has made its mark in bus travel in the area.

This is another way of inexpensive traveling. The thing that make their service extra unique is that they are suitable for tech-savvy travelers—those who always take their laptops, iPods, cameras, and other electronic devices with them. Since there’s a power outlet for each passenger, charging the gadgets and going online is easy.

This bus service—which competes with companies such as Megabus and Chinatown bus carriers—is popular with those going on a business trip, especially with people who are on a budget. Their buses boast of six special features: $1 fares, wifi connection, extra legroom, plug-ins, boarding groups, and reserved seating. Just by these things alone, you will already know why lots of people choose this as a form of transportation.

Services. BoltBus has service at the Union Station, the Baltimore‘s Penn Station, the Greenbelt Metro station in Greenbelt, MD, Philadelphia at 30th Street Station and the suburban Cherry Hill, New Jersey. It has stops in Baltimore, Boston, Greenbelt, New York, Newark, Cherry Hill, Philadelphia, and Washington—better check their official website before you go on your trip so you don’t get lost on your way to the station.

Booking. Since the fares vary a lot, it’s best that you book your trip weeks before your trip, so you’ll get the best deals. Booking last-minute (at least two hours before the trip) is possible as well—your boarding pass and confirmation will be emailed to you. There are two ways to buy your tickets in advance: you can either book online or call them on the phone. While you can avail of walk-up fares, it is recommended that you buy your tickets in advance, so you’ll get confirmed seats.

Tips. As with nearly all types of transportation, you must remember to be wary of some very important things: don’t leave your stuff behind, especially if you have gadgets with you. The Bolt Bus may have reserved seating, but it’s not impossible for anyone to be a victim or theft. Also, if your luggage is not too big and could fit beside you in the bus, better to sit with it rather that put it in the compartment (the luggage stealing thing in buses still happens a lot). Also make sure to be there early so you get nicer seats. If you do not arrive five minutes before departure, they could give your seat to another customer. To avoid this, make sure that you arrive 15-20 minutes before departure.

Tickets. You must also know that the tickets are non-refundable, meaning if you’re not pushing through with your booked trip, you cannot have your money back. You can however, re-book your trip 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure. There will be at least $1 ticket (sold at random) for every bus schedule, so if you wish to have higher chances of being that lucky passenger, book your trip early.
