Everyone has heard of the famous TT bike race but only those interested in off road biking will know about the Manx 2 day Trial.

The trial is held towards the end of August and is not just a race for single motorists but doubles can enter and there are many side car entries and this is what I go to watch.
I find the side cars are far more interesting and fun to watch as they have to rely on each other.

The Manx 2 Day Trial is held in the Isle of Man which is a very small island of the north coast of England and is accessible by car and plane. I always take the car as I usually have someone’s bile with me.  The ferry port is located not far from Liverpool.
The island itself is pretty small and when you get to the middle you can view England from one side and Ireland.

The Manx Trial will take you through some of the Islands most spectacular trials but be sure to take your wellies every year I have gone it has done nothing but rain and rain although I usually hate the rain it makes it more enjoyable watching the trails.

I usually stay in Douglas which is the islands main town most accommodation is bed & breakfast but are all really cozy and comfortable. All the riders tend to meet in up in many of the pubs in Douglas before the races start the next day.

The 2 day trial will take you through some of the Islands fantastic scenery. The island itself is pretty small and when you get to the middle you can view England from one side and Ireland. The route are about 40 miles on both days on the Saturday the riders ride the southern part of the Island passing along the costal route and the area known as Cronk ny Arrey Lea. On the Sunday you will get the chance to follow the riders through the Northern part of the Island and the mountains of Snaefell.

You certainly need to be with someone who has a car to be able to enjoy the 2 Days following the bikes and their riders. Just make sure you take nice warm clothing even though the trial is held in August.

You dont have to visit the Isle of Man just for the bikes….Cat lovers….You have the chance to see the famous manx cats!
