Last year I went to Melbourne to see my uncle whom I didn’t for years. I missed him so much and also wanted to visit this wonderful city!

When I arrived Melbourne Airport I was so excited. I was afraid that my uncle wouldn’t recognize me but he did. We went home and I loved his place. Next morning we woke up early as he said there were so many things to see and do in Melbourne!

Firstly we went to the Federation Square. I have learned that the square is the most famous meeting place and has many cafes, restaurants and museums. We had breakfast on one of these cafes and then walked around. I loved the Victorian style historical small houses all around Melbourne. I wanted to learn about the city’s rich history so we visited the museums firstly.

Me and my uncle had an enjoyable trip to the history of the city. We visited the Ian Potter Centre, NGV Australia, the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, Champions Australian Racing Museum and Hall of Fame and National Design Centre.

The next day we were at Royal Park that is the largest park in Melbourne. We enjoyed the bright sun and also visited Melbourne Zoo. That night, I met with my uncle’s friends. They were so friendly, I enjoyed so much while having dinner

After a tiring day and lovely night, I slept very well. When I woke up in the morning, my uncle was waiting for me to have breakfast. He took me to Royal Arcade that is a heritage shopping arcade in Melbourne. It has been recently renovated. The arcade reflects the Victorian era well. I was amazed with the architecture. Then I had a chance to see the world’s tallest residential tower when measured to its highest floor, Eureka Tower. The tower is a 300-metre skyscraper – it was amazing!

Before I went back, the following day, me, my uncle and a few friends visited Shrine of Remembrance. It is one of the largest war memorials in Australia. The memorial was designed by architects and veterans of World War I. It was designed in classical style and based on the Tomb of Mausolus at Halicarnassus and also the Parthenon in Athens. It was really fascinating.

After such a tiring day, we had dinner at home. My uncle is very good at cooking. My last evening was so nice thanks to them. The next morning I had an early flight to home, hoping going back!
