My Travels in May
Well, what an unforgettable month…. May was spent travelling to Europe.
We had budgeted well in advance for our trip and everything was pre booked including our city tours so we only had to plan for spending money.
As we were only able to spend at the most 3 days in each city we really wanted to get the most out of the cities and we also wanted to travel a little outside of the cities where possible….
Our first stop was London where we had booked a Full day budget tour so we could get our bearings . At 8.45 in the morning we joined the tour bus. Handed in our voucher and that was it. We particularly enjoyed the walk over the
Millenium bridge and took some great photographs of Big Ben and St Pauls Cathedral.

For our 3rd day in London we had booked a 11 hour tour because we wanted to see the surrounding countryside and
this tour gave us that opportunity. We saw so much in such a short time and we would not have been able to do
this on our own. FromWindsor castle we travelled onwards to Wiltshire and Stonehenge. From Stonehenge we drove to
Bath and were in awe at the Georgian Crescents ( I dont know how many times I have watched the film Oliver starring Arnold Finney as Fagan and I felt like singing as we walked through the Crescent that was used in the film. While it rained on and off, being on the tour bus meant that we still enjoyed the day to the full

Paris was everything we had imagined and we will return there to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary!
On our 2nd day in the city we took a Full day tour to Mont Saint Michael. The 4 and a half hour drive took us through Normandy until we reached the rocky islet. We had a guided tour of the Abbey and were able to spend a comfortable 4 hours there before returning to Paris in the early evening.

We also booked the combined “Paris Express” tour and cruise on the River Seine tour. It was a great way to explore the city and in just 3 hours!

Feeling energetic in Berlin we were happy that we had pre booked a bike tour. It was great fun and a fabulous way to see parts of the city that would otherwise have remained hidden to us. We also made some news friends on the tour and spent that evening with them in the Mitte area where there are plenty of bars.
Half Day Berlin City Morning Bike Tour
Our trip out of the city was to the city of Potsdam, the Brandenburg State Capital and former centre of Prussia.
Potsdam is UNESCO world heritage listed and is renowned for its parks, museums and stately palaces. The tour included a guided visit to Sanssouci Palace and its gardens.

Our last destination was Prague. We felt that Prague would be best discovered on foot so we had booked a 3 hour walking tour of the city. The Lesser Town was particularly attractive and it was nice to have the guide as it meant we didn’t get lost! We were glad to have booked a walking tour rather than a coach of this city.

Obviously we couldnt discover outside of Prage on foot so we had our voucher all ready for a trip to Admire Castle, Ceske Budejovice and the Baroque style village, Holasovice. This was a great trip and certainly took us to some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.
