One of my collegue and I were in Oslo for business. We had to attend several conferences there. Thanks to the conferences, we had the chance to see this great city! Although we couldn’t find enough time to visit everywhere, it was an enjoyable business trip because Oslo, the capital of Norway has a great and deep history.
On the morning my friend and I landed at Oslo Airport. We didn’t want to struggle with bus or train, so we took a taxi to the city centre. Afterwards we learned it was also so easy to reach to the city centre from the airport by bus. It would take about 45 minutes or something.
We had booked a room from the Radisson SAS Scandinavia Hotel. The hotel was excellent! The hotel is located in the heart of the city and close to the major attractions. Our meetings and conferences were also at the hotel. We were really fortunate to be able to stay there.
On the first day we had a conference in the morning and in the afternoon I went to look around the city. I visited the Royal Palace. It was fascinating. I was also lucky because I was able to watch the ceremony of changing of the guard at about 1.30pm. Visiting Oslo’s City Hall, I turned back to the hotel for dinner. After an enjoyable dinner, I went to my room and immediately fell asleep!
The next day our conference would be held in the afternoon so myself and a colleague woke up early to do some sight seeing. We saw the Opera House. I had heard that the Opera House had been awarded the 2008 prize fort he best cultural building at the World Architecture Festival. It was really a beautiful structure. We then went back to the hotel to attend the conference. That night we went out for some light entertainment. My colleague, a few friends of ours from the hotel and I went to a famous nightclub in Oslo – Smuget! The club was great, It was located right in the centre – I guess near Grand hotel.
The following day we woke up a bit late! It was our last day and we did not have any conferences I wanted to do some shopping so we went to Paleet which is a famous shopping centre in Oslo. The interior was very elegant. We did some shopping and had something to eat before returning to the hotel. Our trip was a short but enjoyable one. I hope next time to stay longer
