Me and my mum had a short trip to Florence last summer. The city was amazing! Full of history, art and splendid architecture! Florence lies on the Arne River and has great importance in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. The city is seen as the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance.

We were completely amazed especially my mum is so keen on art. She says that Florence is the place that she should live! We booked a room at a lovely, budget hotel close to the centre. It was OK for a short stay as we wanted.

We visited the pearl of the city, the Duomo by Filippo Brunelleschi. It is the domed cathedral of Florence. Then we went to Piazza della Signoria. It was a beautiful square in the shape of “L”. The square was the meeting point of many Florentines and numerous tourists. At the entrance of the square, there was a copy of famous sculpter,” David”. There were also the Bronze equestrian statue of Cosimo I, the Fountain of Neptune, Hercules and Cacus, and Perseus with the head of Medusa. They were all amazing. Piazza della Signoria was like an open museum that helped us to see many things only one place.

The Bargello, the Accademia, Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens were only some of the landmarks that I higly recommend to everyone to see. After exploring all this history, my mum and I decided to do some up to date shopping. This was the best part of the trip for me! There were numerous shops on Piazza della Signoria and we shopped for hours! The shopping  was the most exhausting part and we had lunch and dinner at a restaurant close to the hotel that we were staying. My favourite restaurants were Affettati Misti and Pappa al pomodoro while my mum liked Pinzimonio and Ravioli nudi. At the very last day before turning back home we joined a city sightseeing tour not to miss out on any attractions. I think it was not  necessary because we had already visited many places but my mum insisted on it, so of course we joined! It was nice to see the sights without moving from your seat. The coach was so comfortable and we only paid about 20£ per person. I can recommend these city tours by bus. After having dinner, we went to the hotel and slept. The next morning we went back home. Florence was one of the best places I have ever been to.
