We all love to enjoy the summer and be outside. We know that the sun helps us to relax and feel less stress but……..
Something that we all must be careful of is sunburn.

If you get sunburnt then you are at risk from melanoma which is a form of skin cancer.If you are on the beach and your skin starts to redden of your skin aches then find shade or go indoors. Apart from the long term effect, if you get sun burnt the rest of your holiday can be ruined as it will be too painful to outside in the sun and the pain of trying to sleep..yeah, im sure we have all been there and the most extreme cases end up in hospital.Unfortunately there are many of these cases every year and people end up staying in a local hospital instead of their hotel.Use a sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 15, even if it’s cloudy use sun screen because the clouds don’t protect you from skin damage. When selecting a sunscreen, choose one that blocks both UVA and UVB rays. Apply the sunscreen before you go outside, 30 minutes is ideal.
Do reapply sunscreen often especially after swimming and remember that the sun can not only damage your skin but also your eyes so do protect your face and eyes with a hat and or sunglasses.
If you are taking any medication then do check the warnings on the packet because many medications can increase your sensitivity to the sun. These include anti- depressants, acne medication, chemotherapy and some birth control pills.
Taker care of your skin during the summer and your skin will thank you a few years down the line.
