You can start off by doing some bird-watching at places like the Nariva Swamp, Caroni Bird Sanctuary, and the Asa Wright Nature Centre. The bird life in the Caribbean is one of the most diverse in the world, so this is definitely a must-do here. Kids will also have a fantastic time turtle-watching at the Grand Riviere, where you can catch nesting leatherback turtles (this is the largest one of its kinds in the world). Come sometime between March and August and see the turtles lay their eggs.
See the water cascading down the three-tiered Argyle Falls. Guides are available here, so you will not have difficulty learning and exploring this calming sight. You can also head over to the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, where you can go hiking in the midst of abundant flora and fauna.

It is in Fort King George where you’ll be able to catch a breathtaking view of the capital. Erected by the French in 1781, this is Tobago‘s most important colonial fortification/structure. Aside from the coastal views, you will learn more about the island’s history and see the old stone walls with your own eyes.
Seeing the Buccoo Reef & Nylon Pool (a place that was referred by explorers as one of the most spectacular reefs on earth) is also very rewarding, as it is home to beautiful creatures and dozens of different coral species. Take a Glass-bottom boat tour if you think you need help in seeing the best that these spots have to offer.
Last but not least are the beaches. Head over to the Maracas Beach in Trinidad, one of the most famous beaches in the island. Before you even arrive to this place, you will already be in for an amazing ride, as the drive will give you breathtaking views of the mountains and bays. This is also the place where you could try Bake and Shark, the famous Trinidadian native dish.
Would you like to experience spectacular scenery while being close to some of the world’s most unique species? These parts of the world are for you, as they have a little bit of both. There is a reason why many travelers consider this as their dream destinations—when you finally see it with your own eyes, you will immediately know why.
